Conformation is very important in this breed. American straight back has an extreme slope when stacked. The European bred Shepherd has the correct roundness which enables them to do the jobs they were bred to do. The German dogs gate is seen as moving effortlessly. The American is choppy and the dog breaks down quickly. Sure the American dog is cheaper and easier to acquire but as the saying goes; you get what you pay for. – See photos below.
